POSITION SUMMARY:       

Bridgeway Center, Inc. (BCI) is excited to invite qualified candidates to apply for the role of Therapist for the Treatment for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness (TIEH) project that want to work with individuals experiencing homelessness to address Mental Health (MH), and Substance Abuse (SA) issues by providing accessible client-centered, cost-effective, and quality outcome-based care. These services will be provided primarily in the community.

The Therapist will provide crisis intervention, as needed, conduct screenings, assessments, and collaborate with other TIEH staff to collect NOMs data. Therapeutic services are intended to improve overall mental health and/or harm reduction for persons experiencing mental illness, substance use or co-occurring disorders, with the goal of improving overall wellness. The Therapist will practice in an ethical manner, treat colleagues or persons served with respect and dignity. The Therapist will provide services wherever the person served is comfortable in a community environment or an office.

This position is funded by revenue appropriated by contract and your employment is contingent upon continued funding of this position. 

Applicants must be outgoing and enjoy working with the public, professional, and para-professional team. Have the ability to collaborate and communicate with BCI departments and external stakeholders. Must be able to multi-task and remain professional at all times to ensure that each client has a positive and helpful therapeutic experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Master’s degree in a related human services field i.e., Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling.

Bilingual/bicultural English and Spanish preferred, but not required.

Applicant must be able to pass an Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) Medicaid and Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF Level II background check, drug screen, and a Tuberculosis (TB) test. Applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and have a valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than three (3) points on their driving record to be insured under BCI’s automobile insurance policy.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:      

Some of the job tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), Substance Use Disorder (SUD), Co-Occurring Disorder (COD), and mental health treatment.
  • Provide culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based treatment.
  • Use a safety contract as a precautionary measure when warranted.
  • Ensure a safe environment for the therapeutic session.
  • Completes a biopsychosocial assessment prior to developing a treatment plan.
  • Collaborate with the person served to develop the treatment plan that includes goals focused on attaining, maintaining, and achieving positive housing and health outcomes.
  • Documents that the person served have been assessed for medical conditions.
  • Makes appropriate referrals based on assessment information.
  • Provides crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Documents collaboration and coordination of care with both BCI and external service providers/programs.
  • If appointments are missed, documents attempts to re-engage in treatment.
  • Abides by federal, state, and local standards, while maintaining the highest ethical standards as listed in individual clinician’s licensure ethical codes.
  • Follows all State, local, and federal guidelines related to duty to warn, duty to report, and protection of confidentiality and consumer rights.
  • Uses Evidence-Base Practices as appropriate.
  • Collect all NOMS data elements required.
  • Refer and link persons served to appropriate services within the System of Care (SOC) that promote positive housing and health outcomes, treatment adherence, and greater self-sufficiency.

WORK LOCATION:  HIRING 2 POSITIONS (1 IN FORT WALTON BEACH, 1 IN CRESTVIEW)     

In the Community Work – Primary work location is Fort Walton Beach (FWB) OR Crestview (CV). Travel within the county and/or surrounding areas is required as needed.

WORK HOURS:   Fluctuates / Flexible – Forty (40) Hours of Work

WAGE:    The wage for this position is $25.00 per hour.
