POSITION SUMMARY:
Bridgeway Center, Inc. (BCI) is seeking applicants for the Court Liaison position. This position works with the criminal justice population and provides mental health and substance use treatment, linkage to Case Management (CM) services, and release coordination for inmates who have been identified as having mental health needs during their detention within the Okaloosa County jail. The Court Liaison will provide support to the Okaloosa County Pre-Trial Services Unit (OCPTSU) which is a voluntary, accountability program that requires participants to be actively involved in their recovery. The OCPTSU can be utilized in several different ways: 1) as a condition of bond 2) as a condition of Mental Health Court and 3) as a condition of sentence. The reintegration program has the capacity to serve 30 adults. The length of engagement in the OCPTSU reintegration Program will be up to 180 days post-discharge from the OCPTSU. Reintegration participants may be considered for up to an additional 180 days post-OCPTSU discharge. Criteria for participants include having been diagnosed with a mental health condition or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and successful completion of the OCPTSU program.
The clients served in this program have a variety of criminogenic, social, and psychiatric needs which are addressed through coordination between Bridgeway Center, Inc. (BCI) Court Liaison, Correctional Officers, and other external agencies.
The applicant selected for this position must be comfortable routinely working alone and be able to manage the clients on the unit.
The Forensic Program is funded by revenue appropriated by the State of Florida and Okaloosa County and your employment is contingent upon continued funding of this program.
Applicants must be outgoing and enjoy working with the public, professional, and para-professional team. Have the ability to collaborate and communicate with BCI departments and external stakeholders. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School (HS) Diploma OR GED.
Bilingual/bicultural English and Spanish preferred, but not required.

Applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and have a valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than three (3) points on their driving record to be insured under BCI’s automobile insurance policy.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Some of the job tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Acts as a liaison between the mental health system and legal system for clients with forensic involvement.
- Maintain an updated calendar of all scheduled court hearings, competency restoration classes in addition to contact information for pre-trial/probation officers, judicial assistants and case managers.
- Attend all scheduled hearings (in person and/or online), represent the Forensic Pre-Trial Program (FPTP) and provide testimony when required.
- Provide technical support to clients, Case Managers and treatment staff as needed when attending hearings online.
- Complete status reports for court hearings and follow up progress reports to the court, as needed.
- Maintain communication with Case Managers, advocate for client needs, assist in linking clients with needed services/resources and assist in coordinating transition.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and case staffing’s with managing entity as needed.
- Review referrals received, screen potential consumers and complete dispositions.
- Drive company car and transport clients as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORK SCHEDULE: Fluctuates – Primarily 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some nights and weekends depending on clients. Nights and weekends may be required. Work hours may be earlier or later than normal shift to meet with clients who are early or late workers.
WORK LOCATION: Fort Walton Beach (FWB)
WAGE: The wage for this position is $17.00 per hour
