Post Overdose Support Team (POST)

What is POST?

The Post Overdose Support Team (POST) is a collaborative initiative involving Law Enforcement, Okaloosa County EMS, and Bridgeway Center, Inc. aimed at addressing the opioid crisis and saving lives from overdose in Okaloosa County.

Our Mission:

To provide immediate and continuous support to individuals who have survived a drug overdose, helping them access recovery resources and prevent future overdoses.

How POST Works:

Within 24 to 72 hours of an overdose, POST team members visit survivors in their homes to:

  • Offer support and guidance for recovery
  • Connect them to local substance use and mental health services
  • Educate on harm reduction strategies and overdose prevention

Our Multi-Agency Team:

  • Law Enforcement: Ensuring safe, supportive response to overdose incidents
  • Okaloosa County EMS: Offering medical expertise and overdose response support

Bridgeway Center, Inc.: Connecting individuals to trusted treatment and mental health resources

Why POST?

Each overdose is a critical moment to make a difference. POST meets survivors where they are—both physically and emotionally—to break the cycle of addiction and prevent future harm.

Support & Recovery Resources Available:

  • Substance Use Treatment Programs
  • Mental Health Counseling
  • Community and Family Support Services
  • Follow-Up Care for Sustained Recovery
