Bridgeway Center, Inc. (BCI) is proud to recognize Sky Powell, CWBA, CRPS, and Peer Support Specialist (PSS), as our Employee of the Month for February 2025.
This honor, selected by members of BCI’s Program Leadership, reflects Sky’s outstanding dedication, compassion, and service to the individuals and families we serve. Since joining BCI in April 2023, Sky has proven to be an invaluable member of our team, continually going above and beyond to support those on their journey to recovery.
One nomination detailed a powerful example of Sky’s impact:
“Sky has been encouraging a person who had fallen out of recovery, taking their calls all hours of the night. When the client let her know in the wee hours that he was tired and ready for change, she made some calls and found a recovery home for him in Birmingham that had a bed available the next day.
She stayed in contact with him and made an appointment to meet him at a gas station the next morning and continued to encourage him even when he tried to make excuses why he might not make it. Sky met him at the gas station, filled his tank with gas, bought him breakfast and coffee, and stayed in touch until he reached his destination.
He is now in the recovery home—showered, with a room, laundry being done, detox in process, and covered in prayer.”
This story is just one example of how Sky embodies the mission and values of BCI. Her empathy, persistence, and selfless commitment are what make her such an effective Peer Support Specialist—and a role model to us all.
