The Substance Use Outpatient Counselor, using evidenced based service models, conducts screenings, assessments and group sessions for persons experiencing substance use disorders. New associates receive training, mentoring, and coaching throughout the on-boarding process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field plus one (1) year of related experience. Experience working in direct behavioral health care services preferred. Applicant must be able to pass a Level II DCF criminal background check, drug screen, and a Tuberculosis (TB) test.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide office based behavioral health care services for persons with substance use disorders in the Intensive Outpatient Program. Perform biopsychosocial assessments, facilitate substance use groups using evidence-based practices; complete clinical documentation for each participant and conduct collaborative treatment planning using a Recovery Oriented System of Care approach. Provide linkage to other community services as needed through direct Care Coordination. Have the ability to work as an active team member.  Be responsible for ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment and adhering to all safety standards, Federal and State regulations, and corporate policies. Willing and able to perform other duties as deemed appropriate by his/her direct report.

WORK LOCATION:  Fort Walton Beach (FWB)   

WORK HOURS: Mon – Fri; 40 hours per week; some evening hours are required. 

BASE WAGE:     The base wage for this position is $15.00 per hour for 0-5 years of experience and $16.00 per hour for 6-10 years of experience. The maximum years of experience that BCI gives credit for is ten (10) years.
