BWC Nurses provide hands-on care to patients (pediatric and adult) with varying degrees of mental illnesses and/or developmental disabilities. They perform a vital, front-line function as they observe, treat, and interact with patients. They carry out the Prescribers’ orders and coordinate care and services as needed. They report back on how the treatment is working or any unusual symptoms that need professional attention.

BCI BWC Nurses take part in both the planning and implementing of patient Treatment Plans. Tasks will include interviewing patients, assisting patients with questions about their medications, make referrals to other internal BCI departments, assist Prescribers with daily tasks, and gather information to assist the Prescriber.

New associates receive training, mentoring, and coaching throughout the on-boarding process. This is a weekday position with no evenings, holiday, or weekend work.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:    Clear and Active FL Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN). Specific experience in psychiatric treatment is preferred. Must have or be eligible to receive the HIV/AIDS 501 certification within one (1) year of employment. Candidate must be able to pass a Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level II background screening, a drug screening, and a Tuberculosis (TB) test.

  • Provide assistance to Providers
  • Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) software for patient medical record
  • Complete documentation within required timeframes
  • Monitor Psychiatric progress notes for actionable items
  • Processes medication requests and collaborate with Prescribers
  • Document medication record to include any changes or revisions
  • Completes prior authorizations for patients as needed
  • Completes Outcome measures upon client admission and discharge.
  • Other task as needed

WORK SCHEDULE:  Will work four (4) – ten (10) hour weekdays   

WORK LOCATION:   Travel between Fort Walton Beach (FWB) and Crestview (CV)

BASE WAGE:  The base wage for this position with 0-5 years of experience is $17.00 per hour and for 6-10 years of experience is $18.00 per hour. The maximum years of experience that BCI gives credit for is ten (10) years.
